System ID Holds 2nd Annual Super Barcode Training Camp

Time: 9:00 a.m.
It was a beautiful day; a bit warmer than expected, but beautiful none the less. The sun was out, the birds were chirping, and people were trickling into the stadium. This was the setting of the Second Annual Super Barcode Training Camp.
The exhibit hall was buzzing as the 100+ attendees tried to visit all 18 vendor booths.
With over 100 attendees and 18 manufacturers and ISVs, the house was packed, and full of excitement. The day started off with breakfast and the product exhibit. With Cowboys tickets as incentive to visit all the booths, the attendees were reluctant to leave the exhibit hall for breakfast, which consisted of assorted pastries, fruit, and yogurt. With stomachs full, it was then time for the learning sessions which covered WIP/inventory control, voice picking, and field service. The attendees chose two of the three tracks in which they wanted to attend. I was told they were very informative. As the camera man filming the sessions, the ones I saw definitely were. After the learning sessions, the attendees had some time before lunch to go back to the exhibit hall. They really wanted those Cowboys tickets and had to be pried away once again for lunch and the closing presentations. Lunch was one of my personal favorites, BYOT. For those of you that don’t know what that means, it’s build your own tacos. Delicious! After lunch and presentations by Zebra and Motorola, it was time for the giveaways and, the part everyone was looking forward to, the stadium tour. The tour started promptly at 1:00. We got to see a luxury suite, the press box, the locker rooms, and last but not least, we got to go down on the field. This was by far, the best part of the tour. Someone had the foresight to bring a football so that we could toss it around on the NFL’s biggest stage; I caught a few “touchdown” passes myself. Just trust me when I say, the crowd went nuts, and it was instrumental in the win.

Overall the event was a huge success. It was both informative and fun. The only problem now is we have to figure out a way to top it next year. I am thinking we should have it in space. Let me know what you think.
