Keller ISD and System ID Create Wireless Solution for Digital Education

Keller ISD partnered with System ID, Motorola, and SAFARI Montage to create a wireless solution that streams high-quality video and other multimedia resources to the classroom. Teachers and students alike have uninterrupted access to digital educational content and instructional tools when they need them. This is a key part of the district’s e-learning initiatives. “With our plan to move to a digital curriculum, it was crucial to have a reliable and easy-to-use wireless infrastructure in place that would support our one-to-one instructional objectives and enable visual teaching district-wide,” Superintendent Dr. James Veitenheimer said. “We also needed a network that could work at a very high level and make it easy for students and teachers to use.” Keller ISD needed a high-bandwidth wireless network to distribute those large, high-quality digital video files. Looking for a leading systems integrator who partners with the top manufacturers, KISD came to System ID. We recommended Motorola’s 802.11n wireless LAN (WLAN) infrastructure along with the industry-leading Motorola AirDefense wireless security and network assurance solution. The System ID team handled every aspect of the wireless network installation and set up. With the help of Motorola’s LANPlanner software, we were able to do the site surveys and plan out the correct number and placement of access points without disrupting the classes. We removed the old wireless equipment and installed the new Motorola wireless infrastructure. The solution also allows access from personal wireless devices such as mobile computers, smartphones, and laptops. This flexibility further enhances the learning experience, improves overall productivity for faculty and staff, and prepares students for the future.
